Sultanas are named after the city of Sultania, located on the Crimean Peninsula, but today the areas where it is produced in greatest quantity are Turkey and Australia. It is consumed in every part of the world the same, we can find it in the most varied recipes and also with unlikely aliases, for example in the States it is often called Thompson Seedless, named after William Thompson, the first winegrower to grow it in California, his other names are Kish Mish (IR), Sultana (ZA, P, AUS) and the most catchy for us Uva de Pasa (ROU).
